TABLE TORCHES
Silver plated gilding metal / acrylic / aluminium / incandescent torch globes / battery powered
100 x 100 x 60mm each
With an underlying theme of mystery, the TABLE TORCHES were designed so that they sit ambiguously face down in the ‘off’ position, the light revealing itself only upon curious investigation when the objects are picked up. Through human interaction light transforms these objects from cool, static objects into objects that somehow come to life.
Palmlights
Acetal / anodised aluminium / acrylic / aluminium / incandescent torch globes / battery powered
90 x 90 x 40mm each
The PALMLIGHTS are small portable lights designed to fit into the palm of the hand. The dappled patterns in the top sections if each object allows for the playful projection of light and shadow onto the surrounding environment and the light emitted is likened to that of a tea light candle. The two halves of the PALMLIGHTS interlock via a bayonette system, which through a clockwise twisting action also activates a micro-switch to turn the light ‘on’ or ‘off’.
The ‘Palmlights’ were acquired by the National Gallery of Australia in 2001 & 2003 as part of the Elaine and Jim Wolfensohn Gift travelling suitcase exhibition.
